IMPEOVBMBNT OF _ Tho annual nicotine of the New Zealand Bomney Marsh Sheep Breeders' Association was held at Palmerston North His week. Mr. A. Matthews presided. The annual report Showed . that the finances of tho association were in a . satisfactory condition. The income for tho twelve months exceeded expenditure! by .£152 ss. Ad., while accumulated funds stood at -£1613 12s. 7d. The following members of the council were re-elected:—'Messrs. Q. Donald (Featharston), H, 0. Fulton (Dunedin), A. E. Harding (Mangawhare), D; Murray (Ralcluthn), W. Perry (Mriatertoni. 1 Nineteen new membors wero n'.ected. ■The president spoke of tho large increase in membership, which was now approaching 000. During the past year practically all the sheep in tho South Island had been registered in the F'.cck Book. Owing to tho work of their inspectors, it would not bo long before they had a flo.ck of the very highest jjtandard. In reference to the advertising of their (locks, he pointed out that an, outside market was necessary. They would, however, have to Seave over the question ot advertising till mere facilities for chipping were available. At the present time, owing to the diversion of shipping through the Panama Canal, they bad to neglect the South , American market, which was anxious to secure our ulicep, as was shown by the fact that steep had been sent from here to England and then back to the Argentine. Thtey also expected to bring about a large 'export trade with Canada, where . Ihere vasevery prospect of spiling their sheep, ?i,d where a good deal of the country v-ts suitable for sheep-raising, especially Eom-ney-Marsh sheep. Ho was satisfied that in New Zealand more careful intention was paid to tho breeding of sheep than ill England. ' Mr. W. Perry supported the presidents remarks in connection with efforts to open, up again the South American irorkot. Mr. A. Matthews ivas re-etected president for th<f ensuing year, Mr. W. F. Jacob treasurer, and Messrs. A. H. M'Guire and J. Corps auditors; The North Island championship shield was w'.lotted to the Hawke's Bay A. ami P. Association, and the South Island shield to tho Southland Association. Tlio* Wheeler Memorial Shield was allotted to Mnsterton. .j •
