A notice of motion by Mr. Montgomerie to the effect that, niter the printing of Herd Book Vol. VIII only progeny of registered sires and dams be eligible for registration ia future herd books, and that such progeny only be accepted for registration it under 12 month!! old at time of application, , was bviefly discussed. Tt was considered by several members that the proposal should lie extended to animals two years old or under, so as j .to give tlio breeders a chalice to cull or ! find out the true quality of tlio_ stoek. An amendment to this effect was lost, and Mr. Montgouierie's motion was carMr. Montgomery's proposal that transfer fees should bo raisod to 2s. Gel.' each for members, and ss.- each for nou-imeni-bers, and that vendors should be i*sponsible for compulsory registration mid 1 payment of fees on transfers, was carried. In connection with .Derby competitions it was decided, on tho motion of Mr, T. Webb, thai branding be abolished. The chairman presented Mr. J\ '.Vupman ,with the ai&ttciatirm's medal 'for champion cow. which he woir at the Stratford Show, and Mr. 1. Mills th® medal for champion bull at Stratford. Mr. A. Gillies, who scoured both mole and female championships at the Southland Show; will also receive medals. .
