The annual meeting of the Hereford •.Cattle Breeders' Association was held to-day. . • The president cpngratulated members on tho fact that'the breed was coming more into favour. Officers were elected as follow: President, Mr. C. A. J. Levett; vice-presi-dent, Mr. A. Swift; treasurer, Mr. A. Dagg; auditor, Mr. A. H. M'Guiro; committee, Messrs. H. A. Niven aadN. Short ...■'"■■'. '~',. Donations to shows were made as follow: King .Country (To Kuiti), ,£3 3s. for three 2J-year Hereford or Hereford cross steers. Manawatu, gold medal for yearling bull. Mastcrfcon) ten-guinea trophy for bull-under 18 months. Poverty Bay, £h ss. for pen of. Hereford '■- or cross three-year-old steers. Manawatu pedigree cattle -sale, 1920, ,£5 in Hereford classes. Manawotu, Levett Perpetual Cup and gold medal for champion Hereford bull. • Hawke's Bay, pold medal for. yearling bull. Mr.'F.W. Arbon was. elected idelepato to the Coimcil of Agriculture conference. ■"';.■■' , 'Messrs. Buchanan-and Scott were appointed an editing committee. ' . • PIG BREEDERS' ASSOCIATION.' 'The annual meeting of, the New Zealand Pig Breedere' Association was held to-day. The report stated; that 29 new members had joined, making tho total 105. The matter of inspection had caused a good ■ deal of worry in- the past, but arrangements had now been made to put it on a satisfactory footing. ■ The decision of the Department ofclAgriculture to appoint an instructor in swine husbandry met with tho approval of all breeders. Volume 2 of the Herd Book would be issued, shortly and would contain 400" more entries, while up" to the present time' over 100 had been w.ceived for volume 3..
Officers were elected as follow: President, Mr. A. W. Green: vice-president, Kr. N. P. Nsilsen; members of council, Messrs. A. W. Green and J. M'Farlnnd. Mr. A.
