DAVIS CUP CONTEST
LYCETT'S QUALIFICATIONS TO PLAY. (Reo. Juno 15, 9.50 p.m.) London, Juno 14. liingscote, in a letter to the Lawn Tennis Association, admits that Lycett has undeniable birth qualifications to play for the British Isles, but it is not the spirit of the' law that he should bo included i]i tho Davis Cup team. • He is a magnificent doubles player, and would undoubtedly strengthen Britain, but it would be better to lose the Cup without Lycett's assistance than to win with it, while his qualifications are i.ot unanimously. acceptod, particularly by Australasia. I suggest that tho Australasian Lawn Tennis Association be approached by letter, not by cable, with a view to determining in a friendly spirit which country Lycett should play ■for. If Australasia agrees to tho British Isles' prior claims, then Lycett's claim for inclusion should be considered in 1921, but not in 1920."—Au5.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
