RELEASES FOR OTHER NEEDS.
A statement has been furnished to the Minister of Railways (Mi. .Massey) by the Department showing the amount of railway coal that has been released-by the Department to local bodies and essential. industries throughout the country between October 1. 1919, and May °G 19 0 0. Tlio gross, amount-was Ji.ohU toils, and coal has been released at one time or another .within this period to practically every local body, gas company, and freezing works in the country. as well as a great deal to other industries. Some has been released also for urgent domestic requirements in different localities.
