FALL IN WOOL PRICES
• HEAVY DECLINE' ON AMERICAN MARKET. (Reo. May 23. 5.5 p.m.). Mew York, May 21. Australian wool which, is being auctioned under British. Government auspices suffered a 10 to 20 per cent, fall in prices. Of 18,569 bales offered (mostly ir.crinos and other fine grades) only 5500 bales were sold. Spinners' VO's and shafty fleeces brought 93 to 99' cents' pcx- pound, though similar grades were bringing 108 to. 125 cents three • weeks ag.i. The remaining 13,069 bales will bo offered to-da.y anil will be offered for private sale if unsold. Buyers agree, that the peak of high prices of wools has been passed. The present move to dispose of Government stocks is considorcd. a move to, restore tho pound sterling on the foreign exchange market.—Aus.N. 2. Cable Assn.
