» —: — THE GAZETTED MAXIMUM. ■ Pome weeks ago there wa« published in the Gazette a notice regarding Hie price of flouY, which was not easily intelligible. It. appeared that the f.o.b, price was to be ,£l6 10s. at southern ports, and that in other parts of the country the price was to be this rate of .£l6 10s., plus other charges incurred in bringing the flour to tlwplace of ultimate sale tn the break-maker. But in the notice there was mado mention of a rate of ,£lB per ton for flour for certain places, and the rate was to be increased, as per the nbtice. by the charges above-mention-ed In the special notice of Thursday in the Gazette this quote, of £18 per ton is cancelled. ' The rate is now fixed at , iilfi 10s. per ton, and in the caso of thq ports distant from the wheat ports nt the. South Island the rate is to bo •£!» 10s.. with the jwldition of the costs of bringing the flour to those places. A member of the Board of Trade, when asked for an explanation of the point, said that the first notice had been published in error, and that the notice of this week's Gazette was merely a correction of tho error previously made..
