YACHTING
V'. EVANS BAY CLUB. The Evans Bay Yacht _and Motor Boat Club met. on Tuesday evening, when some discussion took place in' respect to the erection of. n clubhouse, and the carrying out of the work •■ was ftpproved. Plans of the proposed building are to be submitted to the Harbour Board, and an application is to be made for a site. The members present went enthusiastic in _ the matter, and oilers were received in the room to take up the necessary amount in debentures to ensure the .undertaking becoming an accomplished fact.
The chairman, pointed out that Mr. G. H. Jackson had offered a prize of £W for an ocean race at Easter. Tho proposal was that the race should bo a combined one between yachts, the crews to be members of tho Evans Bay. and Port Nicholson Yachting Clubs. The Port Nicholson Club had approved of the offer, but intimated that it would be impossible to get crews to enter their boats. The donor was informed of the position, and he then offered the money to the Evans Bay Club provided live boats started, and a day was spent at Port Underwood.
The following.,yacht crews have given notice of their intention to enter for the contest:—Wanderer, Waitnngi, Atalanta, Sea Bird and Koirip, while there was every probability of the yachts .Viking, Galatea, and White Wiiigs being also present amongst the competitors. The race is to start- on Good Friday, should the weather be favourable, and the yachts are to return on Easter Monday.
