LARGE NUMBER OP CONVICTIONS. London, March 10 Replying in the House of Commons to a series of questions in reference to the recent s n Fiji. Colonel Amory stated that 123 men and 14 women hnd been convicted for riotous 'behaviour, and 56 others hnd been committed or were on Tomnnd on charts of wrecking bridges and other offences. An armed guard of fifty men was sent, from New Zealand to assist in the maintenance of order, but did not fire on anybody or cause any casualties. The Governor had appointed a Commission to investigate the question of the cost of living ana the wages of tho Indians— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. ..
