.—- —« — MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. A meeting of the Miramar Borough Council was held last night. There were present: The Mayor (Mr. S. M. Stone), Councillors B. L. Gardiner? E. Collie, H. K. Bobertshaw, J. Hicks, E. J. Barnett, and Mrs. A. M'Vicar. The Scatoun Association Football Club aoplicd for the use of Seatoun Park for tho coming football season—lt was decided to grant the use of the park during the season at the council's pleasure. It was decided/not to charge ex-pupils of the Worser Bay School for the use of the Town Hall on March 7, when Mr. W. W. Bowntree was farewellcd. A letter was received from the Housing Branch of the Department of Labour, asking for the amount of tho council's fees for 97 dwellings being'erected in the borough. The estimated cost of the buildings is £69,500—51 ofc £705 each, 40 at'£7ls, and six at .£Bl6. The action of tho Town Clerk in forwarding the information was endorsed. The Wellington Harbour Board wroto enclosing transfer by way of dedication of tho piece of land abutting on Awa Pond.—The council accepted tho dedication. The tramway returns for tho four weeks ended March 1 showed that the gain for the period was .£79 13s. sd. Comparative returns showed that in 1917-18 there was a loss of £446 19s. 10d., in 1918-19 a loss of £4K\ 18s. ltd.J and in 1919-20 a gain of .£273 15s. Bd. ' The report of the borough engineer showed that the expenditure in wages for the four weeks ended March 1 was ,£345 3s. 3d. During tho. month four connections were made with the water mains, making the total of theso 549, and four were made with the sewers, which now nnml>er 404. Four building perm-ts wore issued of a value of .£4300, the fees being £15 15s. The figures for the year are: Value, £41,340, and foes £172 10s. The stntemont of accounts showed that tho debit bank balance of> the district fund account amounted to £1858 2s„ and the credit balance in the Marino Parade loan account .£1477 17s. 9d. Accounts to the amount of £918 19s. 7d. were passed for payment.
