REDUCED FROM STRONG POWER TO A FUGITIVE VALUABLE WORK BY AIR FORCE UNIT London, February 18. The Air Ministry, in describing the Air Force unit which assisted to break the Mullah's power Somaliland,.mentions one aeroplane which was fitted as an aerial ambulance for a stretcher caso with an attendant. Preliminary operations included the preparation of aerodromes and advanced landing grounds. Aeroplanes from Bcrbera effectually began the campaign, and bombed the' Mullah's headquarters, at Medishi, two hundred miles distant, and Fort Jidati, on three successive'days. The , machines descended low, and inflicted heavy casualties. The fleeing Dervishes scattored, after which tho military continued according to plan. It was ascertained that the Mullah narrowly escaped being killed by a bomb. His uncle was killed alongsido him, and the Mullah's clothes were singed. The Air Force later twice located and dispersed the Mullah's party. The Mullah, with only soventy horsemen, was last heard of escaping towards Italian territory. The Air Force operations reduced the Mullah from a strong power in tho land to a fugitive. The problem which has exercised tho mind of the protectorate Government for seventeen years, at an expenditure of millions, has now been dealt with at a minimum cost—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.-Eeuter.
