In reply, (ho .Mayor lias received tliu following comnimiicalioii :— "With reference lo your letter of January 8, requesting that a revaluation be initio of the cily of Wellington at an eariy date, 1 have the honour lo inform you'that a general revision of the valuation roll of Greater Wellington was contemplated at the! termination of the war, but ojving to the extra Departmental duties put upon the valuing staff dur.ng the last fifteen months, in furnishing to the Land Board, valuations for tho purposes of the Discharged Soldiers' Settlement. Act, it has not yet been commenced. It is, however, anticipated that the valuitu stall' will be free to commence the revaluations towards the end of the present year."
