WRONG AGAIN

OPPOSITION RUMOUR DENIED. A perfectly groundless rumour has been circulated by the Wellington correspondent of "the Opposition newspaper m Napier. It is to the effect that Sir Robert Stout is to retire from tho New Zealand Supreme Court Bench to take tho place, formerly occupied by the late Sir Joshua' Williams on the Judicia.l Committee of the Privy Council, and that Sir Robert Stout is to lie succeeded as Chief Justice bv Sir Francis Bell. The Prime Minister said yesterday that there was no truth whatever in any of the suggestion-; made. ( Nothing hail been considered about the elevation of Sir Robert Stout to the Privy Council, and there had never been any idea in the mind of the Government that Sir Francis Bell should retire from the Government to take the position of Chief Justice, even should such position become vacant.
