EVIDENCE OF SLY GROG-SELLING. Darwin, January 15. Tho Commission took further evidence indicating that sly grog-selling is rampant, "and that much bad liquor is consumed. In regard to one consignment of bulk whisky, tho supervisor of hotels was asked if two or three men did- not die in one dav when it arrived, ami if bad whisky had something to do with the deaths. Ho said, "So it was alleged." Tho witness also stated that he ordered other bottled whisky, but Dr. Gilruth notified him that ho must not do so without consulting him till tho bulk consignment was finished. Dr. Gilruth (ex-Administrator of tho Northern Territory) arrived at Auckland aboard tho Wair'una from Vancouver todav. He absolutely declined to make any statement regarding the Northern Territory until the Commission has completed its report to the Australian Government on the question of control. He said tick was severe in America.
