ARABS SEEK BRITISH AID
INTERVENTION EEFUSED. (Bee. January i, 5.5 p.m.) Basra, December 28. An official representative of the Arab Government, in conferring with the British authorities, suggested that British troops should return to Diarcz7X>r to restore order. The representative of Pamndkan Shalnsh made a similar application, and asked that funds be furnished to replace those looted by his friends and to enable him to restore order at Dairezzor. Both renuests were refused, as it is the duty of 'the Arab Government to restore the situation. The incident may bo regarded as closed—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.-Keutcr.
