THE ZEEBRUGGE RAID
The wonderful story of the Zeebrugge raid will be told by Lieutennnt-Com-mander E. Bourke, Y.C., D.S.O, at the Concert Chamber, Town Hall, to-night nnd to-morrow night. The lectures are beint delivered under the auspices of tho Navy League. ' According., to the Auckland "Star," Commander Bourke tells his tale with a directness and simplicity that uut rhetorical efforts to shame.- "The interesting details of the secret preparations for assault, and the actual attack itself, savs the 'Star,' held the close attention of the audience throughout tho evening. Having played a very conspicuous part in tho operations he described, the commander was able to brinsr the whole memorable scene before the minds of his hearers as no mere nrinted or second-hand verbal recital could ever do. With an excellent lantern and the spccial Admiralty slides which he had at his disposal, he reinforced the. effect of his words, so that no one whn heard and saw could be excused from carrying nway a clear understanding of the stupendous task the Navy undertook on that.occasion, and a sincere admiration for the spirit of "allantry and self-sacrifice which imbued all who shared iirthe exploit. Beginning with an jjccnunt of the Avork nf ihe Dnver patrol in its hazardous vigil against German submarine l :, the commander carried bis audience with him through the countless operations of offence and defence, showing fnd explaining by a wealth nf pictures the different classes of vessels ensaged. and the nature of their duties."
