SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY

Tho custom, of providing nn enjoyable season for seafarers was again followed bv tho Sailors' Friend Society at Christmas. On Christmas morning Mr. J. Moore (niissioner) nreachcd on "Hedemp-. tion." In the afternoon men met for games, sports, etc., in the spacious institute, and a time of great nwrriment was passed. Tea and supper were provided, and then after music the happy party' broke up to the strains of "God Save the King" and "Old Lang Syne.' On Boxing Day, despite the bad weather, a lia.ppy time was nas-:ed in the institute, which was "cleared for action." led bv Mr. Moore the cuests and helpers had fiports, old English eames, music, and competitions. The pleasure of the day was enhanced by .the festivfe decorations, and new tal/lFcloths and curtains presented by Mrs. 31. A, Williams and "A Well-wislier." The lunoh and tea were much enjoyed. In the evening an enjovable concert was given by Mr t> A. Boyd, who was ably_ assisted bv tho Misses Troon and Lewis, Messr=. M'Phee, Price, aiul Bostock. Mr. M'L. M'Phee was at tlio niano. Miss Alary, Kreeft presented button-holes to all hho guests. Mrs. .T. Moore handed the nrizes to the winners in the sports. They were:— Messrs. Johnson, Cameron, Peterson, Cnlims, Dnmvßostoelc. Co.=?''ovc, M'Donald," Pettit, and the Misses Cnlpus, Williams (2). Sunper and "God Save the King" closed a happy 'day. . The committeo and the missioner dpfire to thank all who helped towards the success of the gatherings.
