LONDON WOOL SALES CLOSE

SLIGHT REDUCTION IN PRICES. London, December 19. The wool sales have closed aI: slightly below best prices realised. Competition was rather less keen for good combing sorts. Greasy merinos were about 5 per cent, below opening. The average prices for faulty moritics were sliuhtly weaker; so, too, were scoureds. Carbonising sorts were unchanged The finer crossbreds were a shade easier. Medium and coarse crossbreds have Iwen irregular throughout tho sales, and closed about Klto 15 per cent, below tho highest level reached in the November sales. Slipes and scoureds were about Id. below. Merino lambs maintiiiaicil their opening rates. Crossbreds were sold in buyers' favour. Tho weaker tone is attributed to buyers' apprehension regarding the future; also to tlio vagaries of foreign exchanges nnd tho vast quantities new being marketed, which exceed tho Home trade's machinery capacity.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. AlessTs. Murray, Roberts and Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London agents, Messrs. Sanderson. Murray and Co., dated December 19._" Sales have closed. Compared with last London sales' closing rates, crossbred coarse declined 15 per cent., medium declined 15 .per cent., fine declined 1\ per cent."
