HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLED REPORT. The Department of Agriculture, Indus, tries, and Commerce- ha* received the folloiviiip cablegram, dated December 20, from the High Commissioner for Now Zealand, London:— Wool 6alcs close to-day. Good competition throughout for Home trade; French purchases since first week declined principally on account of rise in exchange; market irregular towards close. Compared with last scries superior merinos 5 per cent, to 10 per cent., ordinary 15 per cent, lower; crossbred*, fine, 7J per cent.; medium and coarse. 15 per cent, lower. Current value crossbreds. fine 2s. Sd. to 3s. lid., medium Is. lid. to 2s. Sd., coarse Is. "d. to Is. lOd. Hemp.—Manila market firm and active. "J" price. October to March shipment, quoted at .£53 buyers, bediming tliis week; later sold .£33 155., and yesterday .-C5-1. February-April shipments have 'been sold, for £bi 10s. Outnut from January 1 to December 13, 1.045,000 bales. Now Zealand, market firm, with a moderate demand. Highpoints, on spot, quoted at £:>2 sellers; Oetober-Deepmber shipments tove been fold for .EM; fair, on spot, has been sold for MR 15*. Nominal quotation .for October-December shipment is now >£AS.
