At tlio Supreme Court, when the Native) case claiming ,£SOOO damages against Europeans in connection with the draining, of the lake was called,. Mr. Justice Chapman said he had communicated with 'the sCliief Justice regarding Native jurors conversing with interested parties. He cast no reflection on the Maori jur- ■ ors, who had been indiscreet in listening to harangues. He would have to discharge the jury, and, if necessary, order a new trial. The question of title was raised, and would be referred to Chambers.
