SULPHURIC ACID

The position in regard to tho sulphuric, acid industry was referral to dur'ng to-day's deputation to the Prime Minister. . In his reply, Mr. Mnssey stated that ho liad'inaue arrangements in Australia to have supplies of sulphuric acid sent to New Zealand, Mr. Witty interjected that it was being mado in Canterbury. M'r. Massey replied that there ought to lie sufficient made in Now -Zealand to supply local requirements. Mr. it .T. Marrinor said the works had shut down because they had too much sulphuric acid i\\ hand. "That is extraordinary," mid Mr. Massey. "The merchants have been complaining because they could not get it, and they aske<l me to havo arrangements made for supplies, and this has been done. I am glad to hear that you havo an industry here for tho manufacture of sulphuric acid. By present appearanoes wo will require very large quantities in future years, if wo get those phosphates from Nauru."
