A. L. MONIEITH ON QUEENSLAND
Sir—Tho Labour Party's candidate for Wellington East is either an unconscious humorist or a very ignorant man, probably both. In his address at Kilbirnie he said: "What was the verdict of the people with regard to the Ryan Government?" It was: "Well done, good and faithful servants, enter ye into another term of office." Now,' the Queensland State elections have not come off yet and, as the Sydney "Bulletin" points, out,' Mr. Ryan has run away from Queensland before facing the ' electors and -meeting his fate. If Mr Monteith will look up the last report of the Queensland Auditor-General" ho will learn that the cost of living is about the highest of any State in Australia, the country is deep in debt, its 'taxation has soared heavens high, and the extent of unemployment is so great that ono of tltc last measures put through by the Ryan Government was to make State payments to the "out-of-works" on-a large scale to try and save them from starvation. Queensland! It is the worst example Labour men could possibly draw attention to.—l am, etc., COMMON-SENSE.
