In the Houso of Commons debate on the Industrial Courts Bill there were strong Labour speeches in favour of dividing the Bill into two parts, with tho ostensible object of consulting the trades unions on the subject of the conciliation tribunals While accepting tho proposals for standardising the wages, Sir It. S. Home (Minister of Labour) Tefuscd to accept an amendment declaring that the standardisation of wages depended on trades unions' acceptance or the tribunals. Tho Labour members insisted on a division, and tho amendment was defeated by 201 votes to IC—Ans.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
