HIDES AND SKINS
Mr. ,T. A. Nash (Palmerston) asked in the House of Representatives yesterday if tho Government had taken any further action regarding the embargo on the exuort of hides and skins. He said ..that ha had received a resolution from 'the. executive of the Farmers' Union protesting against the continuance of the embargo on the export of skins and hides. This embargo . was grossly uniust to the producers, and was of no advantuee to the consumers. He would like to. know what the Government was doinj in tho matter. Tho Prime Minister Tcplied that tho wholo uuestion of the embargo on hides was exceedingly complicated, and could not be dealt with as easily as some Deonle imasined. He propostd to go into the question himself, and decide what ought to Ire done. He hoped to bring about an improvement. Ho was not tiuite satisfied with what was going on at present. He did not say that what was being done was not in tho richt direction, but the matter required consideration. .
