Tt. will interest those who intend oxporting potatoes to Australia to know that importation of >thc tubers into any uart of the Commonwealth is prohibited unless:— 1. Thev are accompanied by an official certificate, dated and signed by a responsible officer of a Government Department of the country of origin, identifyin? tiie potatoes, specifying tho quantity, nnd certifying—(a) That at the date of the issue of the certificate they were froe from phytophthora infestons (known as Irish Blight); synchytrium endobiof.icum. (known ai; potato canker, black scab, warty disease, and cauliflower disease in potatoes); spongospora subtcrranea (known as powdery scab); and all other sorious disioases. (b) That they wore crown in tho country named, (c) That thev were grown on premises known after due investigation not to be or to havo been during the preceding twelvß months infected with any of th» said diseases, (d). That they were packed in the country of origin in clean, new oncloiscs. 2. The bags, crates, or other packages containing the potatoes arc marked on the outside with the name of Hie country of origin, and with oilier oistingnishinc mark or marks. !). The notatoes, after being landed, arc planted in quarantino in a quarantinf station, and after having matured are. with the product of their cultivation, found on inspection to be freo from di 6case Provided that no consignment of pota. toes shall oxceed. 111b. in weight, unless the notatoes (ire imported by or on behalf of a State Government.
