The New Zealand Loan'and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., Hawera branch, report as follows:—At Kalsaramea, on October 20, we held our annual bull fair and springing heifer sale, when the full advertised numbers came forward. Tho bulls were-all well grown, and showed plenty of quality and condition. Jerseys were in keen demand and topped the market. Prices wcro as follow:—Best Jersey grade bulla, 251gn8. to 29>gns. j others, i2gns. to 18gus.; good flhorthorn bulls, l%ns. to lSJgns.j springing heifers,. £14 to ,618; others, £9 to £11 ICs.; dairy cows, J?22 to £24 ss. At Eltham, on the same daj, wo held a successful clearing sale on account of Mr, Ernest Hancock, anT good prices were realised. Dairy cows, £16 10s. to £27 10s.; dairy heifers, £11 to £24; Sow and litter, £18; sundries and tools sold at ruling prices. At Manaia, on October 21, wo had a Bmall yarding, -and report a total clearance under the hammer. Fresh-, conditioned cows made £1115s.; store cows, >:8 10s. to £8 18s.; empty two-year heifers (Jerseys), £9 Us.; springing heifers, £8"12s? 6(1. to £12 155.; dairy cows, £13 10s. to £19; Jersey bulls, 20gna.; others, 7gns.; weaner pigs, 28s. to 365. At Palmer Road, on Friday, wo had a large entry of cattle and a good attendance of buyers. Most lines were sold under the; hammer at good prices. The two pedigree. This year's catalogue displayed, the br«cding of a good selection of the Jersey, Shorthorn, and Frießian breeds,, attracting the attention.of those in search of well-bred cattle from aU parts of Taranaki, also from outside districts as far as Hawke's Bay and the Waikato. As evidenced throughout the past season tho Jersey being m most demand, was again particularly noticeable, this breed being well represented in numbers, both pedigrees and grades, every beast Belling at tho hammer. Pedigree Jorseyi offered on account of Mesßrs. C. Goulter 'and A Hodgkinson, of ..Blenheim and Nelson mdYinces.respectively, although showing signs of their long journey and a rough winter, made excellent sales. At tho Walwakaiho yards, on October 16, a dispersal sale of pedigree Jcrsoya was held, on account of Mr, A. Hodgkinson, of Nelson, also a few head on account of other local vendors, Messrs, H. B, Lepper, O. Ituebo, and J. Lobb. Fanciers attended in strong numbers fropi all parts of Taranaki, tho cattle oventunlly beine well distributed, a mo9t successful salo throughout- resulting. A few head of grade Jersey cow 6, on account or Mr. Hodgkinson, made £17 to £32. At Waiwakaiho, ou October 17, there waß a fair yarding of cattle, most'of which' sold at the hammer. Yearling Jersey heifers (small), £6; floluteiuj, £4 17s. Cd.; 15month heifers, £5 17s. 6d.r yearling steers, £3 10s. to £3 17s. 6d.j 2-year steers," £6 Bs.; 2-year Jorsey empty heifers, £9 55.; other sorts, £7 19s. to £S 7a.; swaller do., £5 to £6 Bs.; storo oows. £6 to £7 12s. 6d.; Jersey bull, £8 10s. Dairy cattle were penned in fair numbeiß. well grown and forward sorts selling well. Ilciferß made up to £16 5b.; ,cows, £12 to £18. At Stratford, on October; 17, the annual bull fair was held, about 120 bulls of all classes coming forward. The quality throughout was not of a very high standard, most of the pedigree Jerseys sold, but Shorlhoniß and Friesians were not in demand. Pedigree Jerßeys realiced from 16 to 61gns.; Friesians, 11 to 13gns.;--Shorthorns; 8 to 31gn8.; grade Jerßeys, £8 to £19 19b.; Friosianß, £9 to £12; Shorthorns, £3 to £12.
