MANAWATU SHOW
ENTRIES RECEIVED. By Telegraph-Special Oorreipondeut. Palmerston North, October 27.Although tho entries are practically closed for the Spring' Show of tho. Manawntii and West Coasi: Agricultural and Pastoral Association, which takes place at Palmerston North on November 5, 6, and 7, a few late entries are sure to come to hand before tlie catalogue finally closes. Tho association is to bo congratulated upon the result of the donations received to augment the prizelist; also on the fact that tho entries this year exceed those of the last show by • 574. Good prizes aro offered for tho ring competitions, which are s.o interesting to the public, are responsible for the increase in .the horse classes. As was only to be expected wi+h the unfavourable season through which the district has just passed, a falling-off has taken placo .in tho entries of cattle, more especially in the fat classes. Sheep, however, show an increase, and the new class—Ronincys shown under natural conditions—brought out a. number,, of competitors. A considerable increase is noticeable in the art, technical and miblic _schools' classes, and the nhotogrnph section has more .than doubled. The soldiers' exhibits, which wore only in the initial stage lasll year, are a strong class on the present occasion. The following table shows a comparison of tho entries for 1918 and 1919: — 1918. 1919.
