Cable Assn. A LABOUR ALLIANCE. Washington, October 24. A committee of miners conferred with the committee, of the Railroad Brotherhood to consider an alliance of the two unions and the 'nationalisation of the mines and railroads. The "Public Group" representing the people, at the Industrial Conference, decided to draw uti a report and submit it to President Wilson, and then to adjourn. President Wilson has addressed a letter to the miners and operatives requesting them to enter without reserve into conference. If the dispute is unsettled it should be referred to a lwnrd of arbitration in order to prevent a strike — Ans.-N.Z. Cable Assn. MI?. GABY'S STAND FADORSED. New York, October 24. Mr. Gary, head of the United States Steel Trust, in jv speech before the American Iron and Steel Institute, said that P 5 per cent, of the workers in the United States were not members of unions. The open shop .was a world issue. Ths institute unanimously endorsed 5Vr. Gary's stand at. the Industrial Conference — Ans.-N.Z. Calve Assn.
