HOSPITAL COST
EXPENDITUKE LEAPING UP. It was elated at yesterday's meeting of the Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board that tho board's expenditure for tho half-year had exceeded tho estimate by ,£BOOO. The chairman (Mr. F. Caatle) said that was hardly tho case. Mr. J. W. M'Ewan pointed out that tho difference between the estimate, J332,t!)2, and tho actual expenditure •ffilfi.GG', was 4)4170, and he quoted figures showing that the bum of .£5068 was owing by tho Department, so that they were not so badly off as it might seem.
