A GREAT OPPORTUNITY
Sir,—lf the proposed visit of the Sydney Orchestra eventuates, I be? to suggest, by medium of your valuable paper, that wherever possible afternoon matinees be held for children and all nm.sic students, and that arrangements be made for a short lecture at the commencement of each matinee, the subject being "The Instruments of a Symphony Orchestra." Demonstrations could be given by the players of the various instruments, and by this means the concerts would prove more educational, and, i would venture to say, more enjoyable. The opportunity should not be lost to give the younger generation a chance, of hearing the orchestra, and those who are not acquainted with the individual instruments would find then- interest awakened, and the tour would be the means of giving much enjoyment to all music lovers, and of being an education to many at t?e same time.—l am, otc., C. ROY SPACEMAN. Napier.
