GENERAL COMMITTEE. A meeting of the General Committee of the Wairarapa I'. and A. Society, was held nt Carterton on Saturday/Mr. James Hodder presiding ( over a large attendance. > / The treasurer reported a bank overdraft of i!S3G (is. 5d., receipts since last meeting- being ,£275 17s. Gd. Accounts amounting to £428 17s. 3d. were passed for payment. The result of, the canvassing showed a general all-round improvement? on last year. Several gentlemen asked to judge wrote accepting the positions. The Otago association (February 11 and 12) and Taranaki (March 3 and i) wrote notifying these as their show dates.' A vote of condolence was passed to the relatives of the late Mr. Alfred Booth, who for many years had been a valued member of tlio. society. ' *A* welcome home from his trip abroad was accorded Sir Walter Buchanan. The Railway. Department advised that the usurl train arrangements for the show would bo available. II was reported that a holiday from 10 a.m. woukl be declared in tiarterton on the People's Day, and .that MartinKoro'ugh would be included among tho banks to observe a holiday. Messrs W. Howard Booth and J. Harp were appointed a sub-committee with a view of having some improvement made to Noblo Street. The Carterton Borough Council granted permission to have cars parked along Rhodes Street on show days, providing a steward was left in charge and the road left clear. The Carterton High School forwarded the natfics of 22 lads willing to assist the stewards with a view to gaining a knowledge of stock. Messrs. J. C.'Broad (Romneys) and G, Saxten (Shorthorns) were appointed stewards in these classes, The matter ,of arranging for a band' was left in the hands of Mr. Caverhill. The Soldiers' Vooational Training Department, Featherston, were granted space for a stall to exhibit and . eell goods.-Twenty-three new members were elected. and five resignations, accepted, It was decided to ask Messrs. Compton and ICempton to assist as stewards 'n receiving and returning the pig exhibits.
