A GOOD WEEK'S? WORK.
What the Mayor (Mr., J. P. Luke> described ns a satisfactory week's c?omi-up concluded on Saturday Inst. Ho had not the complete report for the full week before liim, but for the first four days 363 houses wero visited by specially-hired vehicles, and from them 50 loads of rubbish was taken away to the destructor. In addition to that, 300 loads of refuse of nil kinds were deposited at the tips, over and above what the ordinary city nibbish service achieved, That meant that in four days 4-10 loads of rubbish were secured that would still be r!>tai»ed on promises wero it not for the cleaning up facilities provided by the corporation. The Mayor states that the good work will bo continued throughout the current week, as if is desired that the city shall bo in a. thoroughly clean condition before tho summer sots in.
