A PUBLIC INSULT
Sir—lt is not enough that wo pas} over, 'in silent contempt, tho insult to our M.IVs who fought in the war, quoted yesterday from the "Maonlan'd \Yorker ■In tho House of Parliament. It is true (hat overy loyal citizen wid ieel tn« utmost loathing and indignation at such a dastardly attack on the men who gavo. ui> a'l'l tor their country; ami in the reYulsion of-feeling that such an insult calls forth, will feel, .with tho Prime Minister,- that it is beneath contempt. But what 1 about tlioso whose minds are of too course a fibre to feci the. rebuke of "silent contempt"? To ninny, 'silence wild mean consent," and the ■Maonland Worker" will continue, with never a voico of public protest, to educate those who 'read-it (ami, unfortunately, read litto or nothing else, but stuff like it), m theso pernicious ideas which are undermining our national life. Sco how. much silent contempt" meant to Germany—nothing but punishment had any meaning lor I feel that this is a case in which strong public action should bo taken. For tho «ake of tho youth of our land, who look to our 'leaders to uphcf.d the right and puri6h tho wrong, let us demand- that the honour of our representatives be vindicated, for the insult oifered to them reaches past them to tho wholo community, and to all who fought for King a ndCountry.-lam,etc., AwoiiAN<
