FLOGGING FOR CRIMES AGAINST CHILDREN
Sir—There have been so many letters in The Dominion about the brutality ot flogging, und a .lengthy one appears today from J. M'Donald. Ido not wish to''enter into a controversy, with anyone, but i would liko. to say- tuatit is easily seen that J. M'Donald and others whu have writton in a liko manner are not mothers. I was.very glad to 6eo that the Judges 'liad ordered floggings in.the cases of indecent Xssautt on little girls. It is monstrous to think that our little ones axe not safo anywhere from these brutes in men's clothing. Cases ot tins kind are continually coming under our. notice. It seems that something moreeven than flogging and hard labour would be good fer-tncui.* As to making brutes of tho men who have to inflict tlio pun-lMinieiit-well, H my child were concemed, I would inflict tee flogging with, pleasure and all my strength, and a good many mothers feel as I do. Let me say that I am neither inhuman nor cruel, but 1 sincerely hope that m every case of this kind tho judge if ill inflict the heaviest possible, penuity.-I r.m etc., A AiUlliMi.
