DEATH OF A CHILD

INQUEST ADJOURNED.

Yesterday afternoon the Coroner (Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M.) opened an inquest into the circumstances surrounding the donth of an unnamed male child.

The child was found dead on Monday, and n single -woman, employed in a city hotel, is alleged to be tho mother. Formal evidence was given' by Detec-tive-Sergeant Andrews to enablo a warrant to bo issued for the burial of the child, and the inquest was then adjourned till Thursday, when the evidence of Dr. Fyffe will be, taken.

A further adjournment till September 15 will probably be applied for, when further evidence will be taken.
