At the annual mooting of the Fostou Bowling Club, Dr. Hand! was elected president. The other oflicem are: vicepresidents, Messrs. A. Haw.ce, F. D. Whibley, and the Rev. W. Ituine; secretary and treasurer, Mr. D. Christie (reelected); committee, Messrs. W. Nye'and Moore; auditor, Mr. R. Byrnes (re-elect- ' ed); delegates to centre, Messrs. L. Freeman and F. D. Whibley. A pair of bewts, presonted by Mr. T. Jiimmer, was allotted for oompotition fo? first .year players. . At tlie annual meeting of the liairanea Dairy Company, Mr. A. Lam-aster (chairman of directors) presided over a- large gathering of shareholders, and in moving the adoption of the directors' report and balance-sheet for the twelve months ended June 30, 1919, congratulated shareholders .on the excellent result of the year's business, and also referred, to the good -work done by the company s factory manager, 'Mr. W. Kilp&trick. After having provided 10 per cent, depreciation on buildings and plant, and paying a G per cent, dividend on the nhare capita , the company pays its suppliers Is. Hid. per lb for butter-fat used in cheescmaking during tho year. At a suteequent meeting of directory Mr. A.. Lancaster .was re-elected chairman. At the annual meeting o; St. Davids Church, Terrace End, reference was made to t'ue improved financial position. During the year tho church debt of .£"00 had beon nearly liquidated, only .£IOO now remaining to be found, by the congregation. The' Sunday coitectious show a small increase over last year's figures. A motion was adopted bv the meeting, recommending to tire favourable consideration of the committee the matter of increasing the minister's stipend. , At a general mooting of t.ie Palmerston North 'branch of the Y.M.C.A., the chairman (Mr. M. H. Oram) stated that the sum required to establish an institution in the town had origin,'l-My been .estimated at i 15,000. but this, had cot been considered sufficient, and it was now proposed that when the soherao wa3 finally launched the sum. should be increased to ,£20,000. Such a large amount was thought necessary, as it was proposed to cater for the pressing need of adequato accommodation. With this object in view the directors had considered and outlined ,i scheme for raising the money, which at the present moment they were not quite ready to divulge, «.s it was not considered an opportune time tto placc j the mattor before the public, 'and also ] bceausQ the Y.M.C.A. was not yet 'as weli known in the district as it should be. At a. meeting of-directors, held afteiwards, the following'officers were appointed President, Air. J. Hapwood; vice-presidents, Messrs. J. Linkkter nnd j. Cunningham; chairman of directors, Mr. M. H. Oram; treasurer, Mr. G. 11. Stiles; honorary secretary, Mr. J. H. Dick; executive, Messrs. Ihpwood, Stiles, Oram, Cameron, Buchanan, and Monrad. Mr. A. K. Mansford was appointed auditor. ■ The action of the directors wc>s approved in connection with the establishment of a buffet in Ri»ngitikei\Street as the nucleus of the larger scheme.
