CHARGES AGAINST BOYS
• CONDITIONS OF HOJIE LIFE BLAMED. By Telegraph—Press Association . Christchurch, August 27. ' Eight lads, whose ages. ranged from thirteen to fifteen years, and'a half, were brought before Mr. S, E. M'Carthy, S.M., at the Magistrate's .Court, cliargwl with 'breaking, entering, and theft. Thero were thirty-fivo ■ charges against them altogether, including twenty-font against ono boy, eighteen against another, and seventeen against a third. .The Magis. trate said that most of the boys had been before the Court previously, and had failed to keep their promises to reform. Some of the cases were attributed to the conditions of the home lift!. AH tho accused pleaded guillty. Seven were committed to training farms, ahd the other admitted to probation for two, yefrrs, and ordered to receive ten strokes of tlio birch. Orders were mndo for payment for . the damagft done.
