The "Press," the "Lyttelton Times," and the "Sun" Companies announce that after September' 1 the price of their" newspapers will he Uil. to regular subscribers and 2d. to casual purchasers. Ihe proprietors state, in making yiis announcement: "We desire to point _oui that Canterbury is the only province of the Dominion in which the selling price of newspapers has remained unchanged throughout' the war. We liad hoped to be able to avoid any cnango of price, .but the ever-increasing advance in the cost of paper, coupled with a similar advance in other materials, and the steady increase 'in the general cost of production, have left us no alternative."
