NEW ROUTES FOR OLD
FAREWELL MONTE VIDEO AND ' CAPE TOWN. An illustrated folder issued by the London offico of the New Zealand Shipping Company, copies of which have come to hand, leave no doubt as to title post-war route of the company's steamers to and from New Zealand. Formerly the company's steamers ■ came to New Zealand, via Capo Town and Hobvt. and made the return trip via Monte Video. These routes arc evidently being abandoned, for the newest folder shows that the vessels will leave London, call at Newport News (which is a cheap coal port). pass tough the Canal, and make Auckland their first port of call. A dotted lino 011 the embodied chart between Auckland and Sydney would seem to indicate that the latter'port might possibly bo made the terminal port for sonio if not all of the company's fleet. The folder includes some interesting particulars about the Panama Canal.
