MINE-SWEEPING
WORK ON NEW ZEALAND COAST FINISHED. By Telcsraph—Presn Aucciatlon \ Auckland, August 18. Tho mine-sweepers Geranium, Mallow and Marguerite arrived from the northern minefields yesterday. The Geranium and the_ Mallow went from Wellington lo tho North Cape, and the Marguerite, wliich had been at Auckland for docking, joined them there. Tho three vessels -spent ten days in thoroughly sweeping tiio minefields for any stray mines laid by tho raider Wolf, but did not find any. This search ends the vessels' mine-sweeping work in New Zealand, and after a stay cf about nine days at Auckland to give tho crews liberty they are to sail for Sydney, via Wellington. From Sydney it is understood they will go to sweep for mines off Gabo Island, and that will complete their work with the present crews. The ves-rels then will probably be handed over to the Australian Government, a,ml the crews will be sent back to England.
