HOUSEWIVES' UNION
There was a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Wellington Housewives' Union on Thursday evening, (lie president (Mrs. Snow) occupying the chair. The balance-sheet disclo.scd a satisfactory credit ba'aikc. The following oKifers were elcct'ed for. the ensuing year: President, Mrs. Snow; vicepresident, Mrs. Osborne; secretary and treasurer. Mrs. Luwlor; committee, Mesdames Bosher, Costello, Smith, Semple, and Pollard; delegate to Labour Representation Council, Mrs, Osborne; deputy, Mrs. .Bosher; delegate to Women's Nivtionnl Council, Mrs. M. J. Fordc. Reports regarding the sale of work which the union purposes' holding wero considered by members to be eminently satisfactory, and Mrs. Smith was appointed assistant, secretary of tho Sale of Work Committee. The J/iboiff Representation Council invited members to attend a meeting of that' body next week, when Mr. Ward, of tho Municipal Mil!; Depot, will deliver an adtijjrss on the mill: supply, and it was derided to accept the invitation. A motion was a«ieed to urging the State Coal Department to establish subsidiary offices in the suburbs, in order that better facilities might be provided housewives in placing their orders.
