At a meeting of Palmerston. NorthKairanga River Boajd the engineer in chief of the Public Works Department wrote intimating that the Department could undertake the construction of the river protection works recommended, in Mr. Eiurkert's recent report providing commencement could bo deferred until Bome time : September, when some more of the .. apartment's engineers were expected to be discharged from military service.
