INFANT FATALLY SCALDED

FAILLS INTO A BATH. A lfi-months-old child, named Dulcie Elva Grouhand, died at the Public Hospital .yesterday as the result of having fatten into a bath of hot water. The oliild's paa-ents reside in St. Mary's Street, off Tinakori Road, and .about 4.30 o'clock 011 Saturday afternoon the mothor placed a bath of hot water near the fire as she intended t'o give the child a bath. Mrs. Grouhand went to the 'back yard to get scone cold water, in her absence leaving tho baby in the care of another daughter, aged seven. While the mother wag away sho heard a scream, and on returning 6hc found that tho child had fallen into tho hot water in the bath. Dr. Young was summoned, and he ordered the infant's removal to the hospital, where it expired, probably from shock, at 5.30 a.m. yesterday. An inquest will bo held.
