WOMAN KILLED
KNOCKED DOWN BY A TAXI-CAB. Mrs. Kathleen Mary Green, aged '15 years, who resided with her husband at Bay Road Kilbiimc. met her death on Adelaide J?oad at about 10.15 a.m. yesterday, through being knocked down by a' taxi-cab. According to the information supplied by the police, tho deceased was travelling in a Lyall Bay car, bound for the city, aud alighted at the shop opposite tho Newtown Public Library.,. As she proceeded towards (he footpath" she was struck by taxi-cab No. 52, and thrown heavily to the ground. Her injuries were serious, and she was promptly re« moved to the Public Hospital, but succumbed to her injuries shortly after admittance. , ... Apparently the taxi-cab, which was driven by W. Dell,' was proceeding in the same direction as the tranii No. 118, and on the driver seeing the woman ho promptly applied the brakes, but the car skidded some distance owing to tho greasy nature of the wood-blocked road. Kain had fallen during the morning, and the road surface was very slippery. The tramcar was in charge of Conductor Alfred Ernest Sherwood, and driven by Motonnan Turner.-
