MANAWATU A. AND P. ASSOCIATION

i .. .DATES FOR SPRING SHOW. ■By -Teleqrrnpli.—Special Correspondent. I Palmerston North, July 15. ! i ■ 'At the meeting of the A. and P. Assoj eiation to-day, M.r. AVheeler was given : permission to move without notice of mo* ! tion that the resolution passed at the last meeting, fixing the datps for the Spring Show, for November 21, 22, and ! 23, be resoinded. Mr. Wheeler, pointed out that, the dates fixed upon would militate against the show of stud, sheep, as it was too late in the season, and breeders could not keep their sheep in wool so long. It would xueaftithat.jmost of the stud sheep would be withdrawn from exhibition after the Hawke's Bay Show, as they would by that time have lost their bloom. Tho fiam;e remarks applied to stud cattle, as i /~\it.would be much too late in the, season -X-for-matured stock to come forward in 'anything like the numbers they should. He contended that if they did not mako the show much earlior than suggested they would not be able to continue to , hold the position of being the national fixture in the North Island. They must Tecogniso that the Autumn Show had come to.-stay, and like dates of the two shows did not allow of sufficient time betwccn'-for stud sleek to be exhibited at botli.. He favoured the dates being fixed for October 15, 16, and 17, and he moved accordingly. The -motion, which was seconded by Mr. Jacobs, gave rise to a long discussion, in,.the;.course of which Mr. D. Buo.han/in. ag a stock breeder, contended that -the proposed change of dates would Ell the show from the point of view of .dairy .stock., Finally, the meeting con- • eluded by carrying an amendment, niovcd'bv Mr. Perntt. that the show be held on .November 5, G. and 7. Mr. Wheeler : withdrew his motion. '
