STARVATION OF STOCK
:—« CHARGE AGAINST A I'ARMEK. By Telegraph-Press Association. Duncdin, July 11. At tho Police Court James Chapman, farmer, of the Palm'erslon district, was charged with failing to supply his stock with sufficient food. An inspector on visiting tho property found hundreds of sheep and some young stock in a paddock absolutely bare of vegetation. The sheep and cattle hud become mere skeletons, and 170 sheep and 27 young stock died. It waa stated that defondant was a< man of high character, but was in delieato health. Mr. Bartholomew, S.M., said it was difficult to account for defendant's action, ns it meant a severe loss to himfelf. Dofendant was fined £20 with coste.
