Bay Bowling and Tennis Club, Ltd., held its annual general meeting, at the club pavilion', Lyall Bay, on Thursday evening,' there being a fair at- ' tendance''of .Wmbers,' ; • Mr. R.'M'Kenzie pi-esuied at-the'gath-ering, and in'presenting the-directors' report for the season' 1918-19; 'congratulated' the club "oii'having had'a successful . s&ason. Thornley, Tucker, Bolton; and Laws ($.). : The annual competition for: the "Stansoll : Shield" between the Hataitai, Seatomi, and .the Lyall Bay Hubs resulted, in a win for Hie Hataitai Oinb. who secured'(he shield, held by the Lyall Bay Chib.i the previous, year: 'During the season three.links journeyed to Otnki, and later the club was . favoured with a'visit .from the.Qtaki members.

The finances of the\club were reported to be in an exce!lent\positiop,' the bal-ance-sheet for the year's working showing a credit balance of ~£6O .17s. 1d.,; which was the means, of wiping off the overdraft and shotting 1 a credit balance at thn bank .of 2s. id. '

The report showed that tho tennis section'had. suffered, to a greater '.'extent than the Bowling Club, through tho calling np of our young meif to defend the Empire, but now that the war has ended it was believed and hoped that, with ex-members returning from tho war the, membership .would reach the limit and capacity of the courts. The club had entered' teams for the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association's' competitions;- •. The ladies' teams won two games and lost two. ' The men's competition did not take place owing to" lack of entries. The outstanding'event of the year was the visit of the Terrace End" (Palmerston North t Club at Easter, the victory resting with the Lyall Bay Club by 25 sets to 9. The winners of'tho usual Yankee tourney' wore Miss'Skill'and Air. Cuiiliffe.

Tho action .of .the directors in again piacing the''smalt., green at tho disposal of the ladies as 'a oroquet lav--n had been amply justified, and an even more successful season was anticipated., the Croquet Club being a source of pleasure to members', wives- and their friends. '
