AREAS 'PUKCHASED BY THE GOVERNMENT. By Telegraph-Preee Association Gisborne, June 18. The Hon. W. D. S. Mac Donald announces that the Government lias purchased 800 acres of the Reeves estate at Tolago Bay; also 1000 acres of the Reynolds estate in the same locality, fov a soldier settlement. This is the first land acquired in this district for the sottlenwnt of soldiers. Dunedirt, June 18. The Government has purchased for returned soldiers 11G2 acres near tapara, North Otago, recently held by Mr. l> T Shand. It is limestone land of high quality, and will probably cut up advantageously into five farms.
