POLICY OF ACTIVE AGITATION. Bj Teleeranb-Pross Asaociatlon. Invercargill, June 12. At a meeting, of representatives of all the local bodies in Southland, disabilities of the province in regard to transport facilities ■ was considered. Thi speakers urged the necessity of regular steamer connection with tiio northern ports and with Melbourne. The railway service was also condemned. It was suggested that the province should unite in agitating in a more vigorous manner, after the fashion of other provinces, and put heavy pressure on members of the House and Ministers. It was resolved that a deputation representing all local bodies should wait on the General Manager 'of the Union Company in Dunedin regarding the steamer services, and it was decided to forward the following resolution to. the Southland members of Parliament:—"This representative meeting is strongly of opinion that in view of the end 'of the war the time has now arrived when it least our railway service should be restored; to the pre-war time table, and we look upon it as your duty to .use your best endeavour to this end. _ , ■ It was also resolved to approach tho oversea shiroina companies.
