CONFERENCE ENDED. The. conference between the Minister of Railways (the Hon. W. H. Herries) and the Engine-drivers, Firemen, and Cleaners' Association regarding the new schedule of pay and conditions in the service ivas- concluded yesterday afternoon. It is impqssibl? to announce whether there has been a settlement or not. because the union delegates have to pubmit the matter to the members of their organisation. At the conference tho basis of all tho discussion was tha schedulo submitted hv the Department, and it is understood that in' no important particular has any alteration been made in the proposals of- the Department. . ' '
